God and goddesses are for the people to understand the spirituality thr' mythology.Real spirituality is "Donot harm any one by your senses , work, mind, action" Once you reach a higher lebel of consciousness, you donot need idols. Hinduism has answers for all types of people, Satvick, Rajas, Tamas. Meditation, Yoga, Mantra, Serving people, serving GOD, .No one should try to force religion on other like .

atman is beyond forms,the guru neem keroli baba was in atman,so to him hanuman is atman,not monkey,rama is atman,not man.

ganesha, (spelling?) may perhaps be a reminder to keep intelligence (elephant) in charge if the rats (thoughts).. the rats represent thought, and are to be kept at the feet of intelligence..
this is a challenge indeed to be aware of the churning of thought in the mind ..

hanuman, may perhaps represent the species of creature just prior to man, where there is not the neurological defect in the consciousness, splitting "I" and my thought into 2 imaginary objects.. "i" IS thought, .. psychological investments in "I" and my ideas (ego) is the root of sorrow, tension, turmoil and fears plaguing the human race..

brothers,i am don't want to say anything that goes against Your relegion,but how can a monkey can or elephant can be a human,we humans control them from elephants to monkeys and lions and every animals,don't you think we are the Gods and Godesses?
