Israeli blockade fuels Gaza poverty - 16 Dec 07

Gaza has been virtually cut off from the outside world since Hamas seized control of the strip in June. Its economy has been crippled by Israeli sanctions and checkpoints. Israel insists the restrictions will remain in place, because its border towns are still coming under rocket attacks from Gaza. But as Jacky Rowland reports, a growing number of people in Gaza are living in poverty.

This is what our government supports. We send Israel more aid then all the countries we send aid to combined. Why is this? Why don't I hear more people asking these questions? This is a shame and gets worse the longer we sit here and don't voice our opinions on it.

it's funny because back in 2005 when Israel gave you Gaza by pulling out it's residence...now the land belongs to the palestinians and yet their "still" complaining and blaming the Isralis...they just can't stop can they...they need to blame Israel for everything...why don't they take some accountability for their own poverty instead of pointing fingers at someone else.

Israel transfered 95 trucks of humanitarian aid and supplies into Gaza:

55 trucks through the Sufa Crossing containing: salt, carrot, fruit, rice, sugar, spices, dairy products, meat, flour, garlic, fish, pasta, frozen vegetables, coffee, cleaning products, hatching eggs.

30 trucks through the Kerem Shalom Crossing containing: oil, rice, medical equipments, diapers, cleaning products, toilet paper, shampoo and soap.

Gaza, early 90s, had open sewers, concentration camps imprisoning those forced off their lands. Camps where children played. Entrance guards were Israeli soldiers, one with Brooklyn accent said "Americans have taken everything from us." Guarding people having nil to do with WWII, excuse for invasion of Palestine. JFK and Pres. Carter visited camps, JFK's killer shot by Jewish Jack Rubenstein to shut him up. Where is the compensation for Palestinians who had nil to do with WWII?
