One of the best Aussie love songs ever. Every songwriter who wants to know about depth of feeling and the necessary connection between music style and lyrics should use this as inspiration. Throw away the restrictive norms of pop and let your heart genuinely pour out over your audience.
@hairymarx re : Dominion, After a while Grant acknowledged the weird atmosphere and asked everyone to come down to the front while the band went off. He played an 'acoustic' solo 'cattle and cane' seemingly to the people directly in front of him. Then Robert joined him, just the two of them, while the band took a breather. By the time they were banging out 'Apology Accepted' with feet up on monitors it had all come together.
@hairymarx I recorded the Town & Country gig. It was brilliant. I do wish they could have captured some of that magic on the official releases, the only one that comes close IMO is the KCRW radio session CD. The final 'Karen' at the end of the T&C gig left me on a high for , erm, the rest of my life actually
oh I can't agree with that :) Lots of showing off and affectation ! but with tongues firmly jammed in cheeks and much appreciated. Last time I saw them, Robert was wearing a canary yellow suit and a shirt underneath that looked like an Escher painting ...
@rattyvee I was at that gig too..sit down venue, cold atmosphere.. I was really into the band, Must of seen them everytime they were in London - Astoria - which was a blinder and Town and Country Club stick out in my memory..special times.
Just love them so much ..... such a modest band .... they concentrate on playing and singing without affectation and showing off - and such clever music and timings to produce eerie haunting touching music. ... and it is so great how they are an equal-opps band.
Gorgeous , lovely girls ..... but Amanda ....... so beautiful, calm, serene, gentle, clever and funny. A wondrous woman.

Truly great band with a highly original song. Shame Grant Mclennan died when the band were reaching their peak again.
