Your state you live in can play a big part in what u can make on a job. So keep the faith and don't get discouraged because it is a well paid craft to have. God bless the Welders and all mankind

To all the soon to be welders listen carefully! Welding jobs has its pros and cons like any other jobs. I own a small 1man company doing ornamental work but also a truck drive of 14years. Like driving trucks u can make great money driving for big companies like Wal-Mart or not so great money for way smaller companies. Welding is no exception to that rule. I know welders who make great money from 4000 to 6000 aweek and welders who make 9 to 10dollars an hour. Point is location is everything.

I'm a young welding teacher from the city of Richmond Ca. I started by taking 3 vocational classes that Serra Adult Education offer. Spend about $400 total for all classes that I took and then completed everything within 5months. After that I apply to work for the school that gave me all my knowledge and begun to teach welding fundamental in Spanish. I was making $29 per hour and not just that as a welder I'm making way more doing easy simple jobs like building fences doors and other stuff been

I'm a 37 year old ex con who learned to weld in prison. I've not had a single problem finding or keeping work. In the last four years I have worked hard - very hard - every day to make something of myself. I make 37 an hour and 85 a day per diem. for a forty five hour week I bring home over 1800.00! Thats after taxes, insurance, etc. Non-Union. Take up welding, work hard! Its hard, rewarding work. A good life though.
