Emergency Landing on Northwest 849 in Amsterdam

Northwest flight 849 from Rome to New York lands on runway 18R at Amsterdam Schiphol after having to divert due to a mechanical problem. Originally the pilot said there was something wrong with a backup system, but it turned out to a Hydraulic fluids leak. You can tell there was something wrong with the hydraulics when two of the airbrakes did not extend. Also, this was one of the smoothest landings I have ever experienced. Taken from seat 34J on N820NW, a Northwest Airlines A330-300 with NWA flight crew.

@leeky1988 they fixed it overnight so Delta put us in a hotel and we flew out on the same plane the next morning

Might have landed so gingerly because he was concerned about the spoilers deploying unevenly, which apparently they did. Asymmetrical drag could have caused the plane to veer to one side.

@glodieda An emergency landing doesnt always mean it has to be rough, the plane is misfunctioning is not the only reason an emergency landing must be made :)
