This takes me back. All of these aircraft were a dime a dozen. I miss those days of hearing JT8 engines at airports.
It sure as hell beats the crap out of the tin can eco garbage we have today. What a yawnfest.

When this video was taken I was about ready to pop out of my mother. Born Dec. 28th, 1989. HA! Great video as always Ryan.

I bet people were like "boy id love to see more of those southwest airlines around here!" and look at it now haha

although this was shot 4 years before i was born, it amazes me how classic and old the footage looks. great era for aviation. sad to see what it has become really.

Funny to see the 757's. Slap on American livery and you can still see them today. That TWA 727 had the lighter-than-air look taking off; only other plane where I see that in your videos is the Pan Am 747. Those pilots respect the beauty of the aircraft.
The Southwest 737 in particular is interesting: classic livery and a nice shot of thrust reversers in action. I'm favoriting this as it's such a nice example of how they work.
Nicely bookended with 727's.
BTW, I'm in the 18-25 group too :)

Your videos are gold, Ryan...this is awesome footage! I can't believe how much video you guys took back then. Did you know in 20 years that the industry wouldn't look like even a shadow of what it was back in 1989? Thankful you preserved the good days on your video camera. A+++

love the climbout of the northwest 757; awesome!!!
This is truly one of the best vids, I've seen in awhile, it gives me gose bumps I'm only 18 but I remeber so much of these aircraft and airlines, it's eerie because those 757s were almost brand new at the time and now, more and more they are becoming 727s and the 732 is almost impossible to see the NG is the new 200, and the airlines and schemes that have changed the bowling shoe on the NW 75 and the Delta widget, and Canadian being gone. Thank you so much for sharing this aviation history

@NWA941, thanks so much, it's always cool to hear from somebody in your age group that appreciates this era of aviation! Wait until you see the upcoming videos in this series (Part 5 is my personal favorite).
