IAAPA 2009 - Sega Racing Classic (Daytona USA remake)

Brief video of Sega Racing Classic as seen at IAAPA 2009 in Las Vegas. Sega has decided to bring Daytona back but because the rights to Daytona have been lost (as well as the original source code), we have SRC instead. It's the same thing as Daytona, minus the iconic name as well as it mentioning Daytona in the music.

As for the source code blurb, I mention that because the software in this game was said to be running an emulated version of Daytona. They obviously were able to modify certain things in the game however, by removing the Daytona stuff. Unfortunately, little else has changed when it comes to the game itself. The cabinet is really nice however and the sound is phenomenal so if Sega prices this right then you might see this game at an arcade near you next year.

BTW- Sega R&D said that there are no plans for Ringwide to be made into a game console for Sega sometime next year. Sorry to dash your hopes, those of you who were hoping for that.

is it me or did those guys just loose interest in this game? its nastalgic certainly and nice cabinet design but its just not the same without the name and the fact that its lower than expected graphics. sega should've made daytona 3 with the name secured when they got the chance

@kieranmay When I played it I lost interest as well. I never was that big on Daytona and between the game showing it's age (despite the widescreen resolution) and there being a million other racers on the arcade market it doesn't stand out. At least the cabinet design is nice and that is being recycled for GRID. Otherwise I personally think that Sega Racing Classic was a total waste of time for Sega, arcade operators and players.

that's why it's called Sega Racing CLASSIC, it's not a remake, they just updated it with widescreen and that's all.

All it is is just a remake of daytona USA with HD graphics and without the license. nothing really special altogether. Daytona USA 2 will always be a true racing classic.
