Shipwreck of Russian Cruiser off the Island of Soroya, Norway.

New information: This is the Russian Cruiser Murmansk. In 1994, it was being towed to India for scrapping when she broke her towline and ran aground in Sorvaer, Norway. Attempts to salvage her failed. Murmansk was commissioned in 1955.

  • @ton870 Very wrong. It is the Murmansk, a Sverdlov class cruiser built by the Russians during 1953 and 1955. It broke the tow line in 1994 and grounded near Sorvaer, Norway. They are currently braking it apart due to hazardous materials on board. There is also the suspicion that it might contain Polonium.

  • this is the x nuremberg built in the 1930's for the german navy it was aloted to russia as reperations

  • @cb3500blue i think i have found this ship on google maps

    70.485602,22.107394

  • Someone has to say it... guess i will... IN SOVIET RUSSIA, SHIP SINKS YOU!!!!

  • be a nice tourist attraction than dragged out to sea and sunk in deep water...but what do I know :)

  • this ship was made 10 years after WWII so it hasn't got too much of a history. It's an amazing site, but it has no value.

  • I think some folks are confusing the bow for the stern. The video starts at the bow and moves aft. The turret that is above water is 'B' turret. Watch the video closely and you will see the submerged roof of 'A' turret in front of 'B'turret.

  • Damn. I was hoping to see and perhaps visit it one day...

  • This is the Russian cruiser Murmansk, this I know with certainty because it is just under 4 mil from where I live. The Norwegian government has decided that the Murmansk will be removed after pressure from local people and work is now underway.

  • the murmansk cruiser wasnt laid down until 1953 so couldnt be a german wwII ship
