  • The airplanes in the film are Canadair CL-415 aircraft designed and built in Canada. The airplane is a second generation aircraft specifically designed for aerial firefighting with two 2380 hp turboprop powerplants. It is capable of dropping 14,300 gallons of water per hour at approximately this distance. The 1600 gallon water internal water tanks only require 12 seconds to fill up scooping from a lake. Each airplane costs about $35 million new. Quite a remarkable aircraft.
