I don't know if there was enough Elizabethan/Indian/Blues fusion records made to count as a genre but this is one of the very best records of that non genre. I've been listening to it for 40 years now. Great stuff.

@davidprust I think people compare them because they do have a few little things in common, and Dobnovan did have a little bit of Dylan/Guthrie qualities about his earlier music, but you can't really compare them. Both are extremely talented individuals with beautiful music and wonderful, unique sounds...but yeah, you really can't compare them any further than that.

To hear that Sitar play
It blew my mind in the sixties
and it blew my mind today

Try Marianne Faithfull. 1966 North Country Maid album. Particularly the track "She Moved Through The Fair" it has same instruments as this., very Indian/ medieval sounding! Good covers of two Donovan songs to boot.

I have always liked donovan from the 60s, my favourite tracks being turqoise, ballad of a crystal man ,intergalactic laxative, goldwatch blues, candy man, josie, widow with shawl, etc, why do people compare him to Dylan?

@davidprust It is already what I think I, too, is among dylan, donovan .. there is an abyss like no other, has combined with the psychedelic folk .. and succeeded in an excellent manner
