Do you HAVE TO graft? Could air layering work just as well? I have the time for air layering, I dont have the room for multiple grafts in the case some fail. So thats why I ask. And i'm asking about japanese maples, oaks, weeping willow, tulip poplar, sassafras, and COLORADO BLUE SPRUCE. Does anybody know if it can be done on these trees, grafting as well since i'm here asking.
wow i had no idea this happens...i bought a maple "tamukeyama" and the leafs sprouting are different shape and color from the top leaves. this explains it then
i like the new sprouts (original stem) much more than the lace leaf leaves.
