I thought that the original Super Mario Galaxy didn't explore enough of the haunted theme, despite there being a bunch of missions for them. They didn't have that feel, you see, except for "Luigi in the Haunted Mansion." Thankfully, Super Mario Galaxy 2 rectified this through the Flash Black, Boo Moon, and Haunty Halls Galaxies. I think it's gone the other way though, with a bit too much of the ghost house stuff. Perhaps one of these galaxies ought to have appeared in the original Mario Galaxy so they can have a fair share.

Lots of weird stuff happens here...though the pitch-black hallway maze at the beginning is kind of annoying. I'd say that this is Mario's turn to go to the Moon, but it's really nothing to be wowed about considering everything else in this game. (That and he's already gone to the Moon back in 1990.) The pop-up picture at the end looks like the sort of thing that I'd see in Super Mario 64, which was chock full of oddities. I'm glad Mario is as random as ever.

@Overhazard You wrote "Mario in the Haunted Mansion" as a mission from Galaxy 1 even though there was no mission called this in both Super Mario Galaxies. Maybe you meant "Luigi and the Haunted Mansion"?

The maze in the beginning of the galaxy has one thing that baffles me quite a bit; the 1-Up Mushroom in a crystal adjacent to a wall can't be reached, or that I've tried, and the two torches in the starting room seem to have no use at all. I've probably missed something, but I was wondering why those items were placed there when they seem to have no use.

@heliotropei Well, you do get to them in the Howling Tower mission. But yeah, I was wondering it myself. I thought you could access it and spent ages trying to get there, convinced that a Green Star is there somewhere.
