Jules Mouquet - La Flute de Pan, Op. 15
Movement II: Pan et les Oiseaux (Pan and the birds)

Pan is the Greek god of shepherds and flocks who loved to chase the nymphs. He chased the water-nymph Syrinx until she ran and transformed into marsh reeds, which he used to make his panpipes. In this composition, Pan is heard playing his panpipes with the "bergers" (shepherds), the "oiseaux" (birds), and the nymphs.
