Why the music? I agree with loopdeelooo. He is very interesting but the silly music spoils it. Did he choose it?

If the ideas are good it really doesn't need chanting to hold it up

As a comment to your response, I want to say that his philosophies are to an extent inspired through his experiences with ketamine, and all I can say about that is that trying to understand people who use psychedelics is very difficult if you have not done so yourself, and there is a bridge to gap because of it, that's all.

Also, I am very put off by this comment have a response mark of -4, that doesn't make any sense to me. My god people, aren't we entitled to our opinions?

I think it is perfect, it is building up to a crecendo of hypnotic bliss, which slowly edges its way in - in the way he describes about those loops. I fuckin love this music!

"Listening to someone like Lilly makes me wonder if our universe isn't some kind of gigantic mechanism for evolving consciousness... of all sentient beings, not just humans, "

I thought it was pretty much obvious to everyone at this point that this was true, why wouldn't it be?

Isn't everything evolving and constantly being taught, adjusted, informed, and corrected in its processes by the intelligent primal force of the universe?

I mean what else is evolution?

they say that space is finite but time is infinite. effectively we are repeating ourselves over and over. one way or another. we are all learning in my opinion. regardless of religious or philosophical leanings.

I agree. I believe that one of the most important processes of growth is to actually cut off the strong tendencies and habits of repeitition, which is so hard for so many reasons. Essentially you may learn a lot even if you stay stuck in any particular habit cycle, but I believe that one can take a quantum leap in their relationship with life by recognizing that teaching, liberating force that shapes us through suffering, lessons, insight and so on. Very important to acknowledge.

Evolution, could be simply a process of physical evolution, not necessarily an on going evolutionary process of consciousness. Maybe consciousness doesn't evolve, Maybe consciousness JUST IS! The question I originally posed was; 'What if the Universe is some kind of gigantic mechanism for evolving consciousness." It seems to me, this would explain much. I've thought so many times, of Terence McKenna's comment, "That in our lives, we seem to be living a narrative, that's been written for us."

After experimenting with various psycho-stimulants,entheogens,h allucinogens and more recently ketamine in the genuine search for purpose, meaning and and understanding of higher purpose i can see how he arrived at such notions of transcending the mundane,'stuck' self and i enjoyed this talk by Dr John Lily.Thanks.
