The demonstration required a hamster to wear a jacket with a built-in nanogenerator, but the running critter showed that almost any movement can be harnessed to generate electricity to power electronic devices. Researchers at Georgia Tech, which conducted the demonstration, predict nanoscale piezoelectric energy generators could power mobile phones and other handhelds using the energy harvested from the environment. In the near term, researcher Zhong Lin Wang said he wants to power medical nanodevices with muscle movements such as flexing fingers and vibrating vocal cords.

  • Nice.

Think if this technology evovles and we could use human body movement to generete electricity, that would be pretty good.

  • As a matter of fact, these same researchers are proposing just such a use of their nanowire--weaving them into clothing that recharges you mobile devices as you walk around:

  • nano hamsters

  • the answer for unlimted power ,,LOL hamsters

  • How did you put the jacket on the hamster? I tried to put a sweater on my dwarf hamster and he kept wiggling out.

  • why the people don't build a big hamster power plant?....the energy problem in the future will be gone!!! :D

  • I've been trying to figure out how to use our hamsters energy on the wheel to generate electricity.

Thanks for the research and info.

  • you have nanowires under your skin. it is from the chemtrails. if your body rejects the implants, you develop Morgellons sores. you have already been implanted.

  • hamster power maybe could help save us from oil dependence. the whole car can double as giant playhouses for the hamsters.
