  • a little sidenote that on the album cover one of these guys looked liked M.J. (circa Thriller album)This released in 83 and MJ's Thriller was a "standard" at that time...

good post...you had to find this one LOL

  • ok thanks for the information gonna try to find this :)

  • OK. I gotta ask....and if anyone knows the answer, then let me know. Why hasn't the owners of THIS Sugar Hill Records sued the OTHER Sugar Hill Records over the name?

  • @travelboy48 ...got your back Earl....don't ask how I ended up viewing this video & reading your posts... I was around when this record was made ...The voice IS Earl Brinkley

  • @fuquit69 could have been a big hit had they let me do the vocals in more than 2 takes. I'm the original vocalist on the cut as well as another Sugar Hill release "Ahh Dance" recorded under the name Fine Quality featuring Cuz (me my sis Brenda and cuz Cathy). Check me out at travelboy48 channel and subscribe.

  • @hunn89 The photo on the cover is Lane Lassiter, an MJ impersonator based in Vegas. The tracks are done by a cat named Reggie Griffin who actually did all the music at Sugar Hill in the Flash/Sequence/sugar hill gang years. He went on to do lots of production work for LaFace Records. The cat singing is actually Earl Brinkley aka Earl B (that's me). It was a Sugar Hill stunt to use a real singer and pretend the impersonator was actually singing. Go to travelboy48 and compare the voices!

  • Sorry son, u r about 27years late. lol I already KNOW the story as I was there the first time around. We used to DJ this song in LA when it was new and there is actually a MJ impersonator named Scorpio from LA who's been impersonating MJ since the early 80's (called by many the BEST impersonator-even MJ recognized him as "a pretty good me")This guy singing this song would be around 50 yrs old now, Scorpio who performed at one of the memorial services in LA for MJ I believe, is a bit older.

  • @hunn89 Yea funny you mention that he looks like MJ because he's supposed to! He's the best MJ impersonator in the world I can't believe you haven't heard of him jeez some people LOL jk but that would be my friend Lane :) Mmkay? Now we all now why he looks like MJ <333

  • sounds like Jacksons & Prince melted 2getha

  • This is a bangin tune - great to be able to hear it again (I had the 12" version years ago - lost it). What I remember about it was the instrumental B-Side had fantastic brass/string arrangements over the mid sections. If you could post that as well I'd be most extremely pleased ;o)
