Recording from the concert on 29th January 2009 in Erzengel-Michael-Kirche, Diakonie Michaelshoven, Köln-Rodenkirchen Cologne, Germany. The piece, dedicated to the soloist Martin Hilner, has been written for this occasion and saw a successful premiere. The title refers to the continuous 7/8 metre on which the piece is based. This asymmetric metre, rarely used in western classical music, was the source of inspiration and lends this piece its driving quality. The title was chosen in allusion to the famous jazz piece "Take five" by Paul Desmond, using from a 5/4 metre.
The organ is after an organ by G. Silbermann, the diapason being 415 Hz.

  • Is this piece published? I always look for nice pieces for organ en saxophone, and this one is! I play both instruments and this piece is challenging for both of them.

  • yes, it is published in our Eufonia edition in a volume "Six pieces for Saxophone & Orgen".
