The nightclub violence in this video could have been prevented with the Club Watch Community Connection here: http://clubwatch.com. "An innocent victim...." Yes, she was innocent, but venues and cities that do nothing to prevent these tragedies are definitely not innocent.

  • Praise Jesus!

  • These are bought most avidly by that golden market segment, the eighteen-to-thirty-four-year-old single male demographic, because those are the humans who invest the highest proportion of their money, time, and energy into mating effort, including conspicuous consumption. Then, after the horny rich boys all own the technology, the companies gradually lower their prices and enter the mass market. This is when LCD TVs get 30 percent cheaper every six months.

  • Read from top to bottom. The following two posts are from the book The Evolution of Desire. Buss, p. 59.

  • The consequences for a man's social status are critical...Men are particularly concerned about status, reputation, and hierarchies because elevated rank has always been an important means of acquiring the resources that make men attractive to women. It is reasonable, therefore, to expect that a man will be concerned about the effect that his mate has on his social status - an effect that has consequences for gaining additional resources and mating opportunities.

  • A person's status and resource holdings, however, often cannot be observed directly. They must instead be inferred from tangible characteristics. Among humans, one set of cues is people's ornamentation. Gold chains, expensive artwork or fancy cars may signal to both sexes an abundance of resources that can be directed toward parental investment. Men seek attractive women as mates not simply for their reproductive value but as signals of status to same-sex competitors and other potential mates.

  • goin there for a j1, oh christ...

  • And remember, this is all competition between and among MEMBERS OF THE SAME SEX. They're all directly and indirectly trying to out compete one another for status within the social hierarchy. They're all trying to position themselves so that they can have the best access to the best resources and the most mating opportunities with the most appealing members of the opposite sex.
