this light most probably is to tell him when he loses traction, since active traction control is not permitted in most serious rallies but active differentials which are permitted do most of the job when tuned right. This is a perfect example of why he actually needs it since this particular car is RWD and the mid-engine makes for a lot of skidding in curves. You can also observe his driving style is of "diving" the nose in the corner a lot more.
