They have standard testing. Both written and physical skill. Does not matter what race or gender you are, if you cannot complete the tasks required for the testing how would one be expected to complete the tasks required for the actual job? And like any other tests, those who score the higest are going to be picked for the job. It doesnt make sense to lower the standard just because it does not appear to be "diverse".

does anyone know what the department demographics are? total Firefighters? total number of women FFs? Total number Black FFs? it doesn't appear to be very diverse based on this video.
