Jack demonstrates computer skills and singing for grandma, showing confidence and joy. What a change aba therapy and a MACBOOK computer with PHOTOBOOTH program can make! Compare this video with one taken about 9 months ago where he is frustrated with task of assembling magnetic train set. Jack attends Leonia NJ public schools where he receives the best education we could wish for. His aba class has one gifted teacher, mrs brophy, an aide for each of the six students, plus two behaviorists, an occupational therapist, a physical therapist, two speech therapists, and many other resource people. We rejoice in jack's improvement. He likes to go to school where he learns new things every day. He is mainstreamed for music, art, gym and library, plus play time in another kindergarten.

  • thank you for all your nice remarks. at age six, jack developed epilepsy, which apparently happens in about 30% of children with pdd-nos. The medicine he takes to prevent seizures has altered his behavior somewhat but his loving personality is still in there and we will get thru this also. i look back on jack without the meds and am charmed by how sweet and simple life seemed back when he was five.

  • Thank you so much for sharing your Grandsons achievements with all of us.... My son just turned two and was diagnosed today with PDD-NOS. Your Grandson is very inspiring! It is a great comfort fro me to know that my son has a chance to grow up communicating with the world as well as your beautiful grandson.

  • This is so wonderful! My two year old daughter was just diagnosed as high functioning PDD-NOS with a speech impediment. She is extremely intelligent, and I was just so worried that this label would hinder academic, and social progression...looking at this beautiful boy, who functions as a regular, and very intelligent 5 year old, I have gained so much comfort! Thank you so much for posting!
