my bali part 3

Of over 80 hours of film, recorded during my one year stay on Bali in 2001, I edited this 45 minute long 'best of'. it consists of five parts basically:
1) my home (kos) in Kesiman
2) some ceremonies and dance performances I witnessed
3) my peronal music and dance experiences
4) my fields of research (gamelan rindik and kecak)
5) the music that I continue teaching: gamelan beleganjur.

It is a very personal impression of Bali, 'my Bali' as it was in 2001.
my bali part 3 includes:
- kendang lesson with I Gusti Ngurah Padang (panyembrama)
- odalan in Munggu with cendrawasih and margapati (the gods obviously dimmed the lights to hide my insecurity and incapability)

my teacher actually forced me to 'ngayah' at least once before i went back home, i was so glad the lights went out.

I am learning margapati myself your version is a bit different to the one i am learning, the knees ache soo much in that one and the arms, keeping the knees bent is soo hard!! You are soo brave though dancing in front of the Balinese my teacher always says they are the hardest critics!
