Abbreviations
EA - Each
SP - Space
SL ST - Slip Stitch
HDC - Half Double Crochet
CH - Chain
SC - Single Crochet
BPDC - Back Post Double Crochet

Long FPSC -Will be worked around RND 1 HDC. Insert the hook from the front right of the stitch, around the back, and to the front left of the stitch. Wrap the yarn over the hook and pull up. Making sure that all loops are behind the crochet hook, complete single crochet in the HDC of the previous round.

Behind Chain: If you look closely at the chain, it is made up of 3 loops for each chain, it will have 3 loops that make up each chain. There are 2 at the top front and 1 on the bottom back. The loop worked in for round 6 is the single loop on the back of the chain.

CH 4, Join.

Round 1: CH1, pull up, this will not count as a stitch. Work 12 HDC through the center of the CH 4, join. (12 HDC total)

Round 2: CH1, pull up, this will not count as a stitch. Work 2 HDC in ea HDC around, join. (24 HDC total) Cut yarn and change color.

Round 3: CH1, pull up, this will not count as a stitch. *Work 1 HDC in the next ST. Work 2 HDC in the next ST. Repeat around from * . (36 HDC total) Cut yarn and change color.

Round 4: The elongated front post single crochet for this round with be worked around round 1. CH 1, *Long FPST(see abbreviations for description), 1 SC in ea of the next 2 sts. Complete 12 times total from *. Join in beginning single crochet. (36 Stitches total)

Round 5: CH 1, pull up long, this will not count as a stitch. *2 DC in the same st. 1 HDC in ea of the next 2 sts. 1 SC in ea of the next 3 sts. 1 HDC in ea of the next 2 sts. 2 DC in the same st. CH 2, complete 4 times from *. Join to beginning DC. Cut yarn and change color.
Round 6: Ch1 pull up long stitch, *2 HDC in loop behind CH, 1 BPDC around each of the next 11 Sts. 2 HDC in loop behind CH, complete 4 times total from*, join.

  • why do you "pull up" the yarn? Like for round 2, after chaining one, you "pulled up" the yarn and then began crocheting.....

  • @33Muslimah I use the chain 1 and pull up only as the step up to the next round.  The reason I do this is because I like to work full stitches instead of the chain 3. The chain will leave holes and gaps, so I prefer working the full stitch.

  • Didn't know how to crochet a second ago, but now i think i got it, thanks for the slow-mow hand action, it gave me an idea of what to do.
