A video of the beautiful area around Ramsau and Berchtesgaten in Obersalzburg Germany. A wonderful mountain retreat, the area is graced with stunning mountain vistas and clear mountain streams. Berchtesgaten is also famous for being Hitler's favourite retreat where he finished writing Mein Kampf and later spent large portions of each year at the Berghof. It is also home to the Eagle's Nest. As the Nazi Party elite all bought homes in the area, a special bunker system was built to protect them in the event of Allied bombings - this bunker system is also shown in the video. Today the area is a tourist attraction. Ramsau is home to a beautiful old church that was the subject of one of Eisenhower's paintings. Ramsau also has a superb hotel Reghoff (Best Western) that is well worth a visit (shown on the mountainside). A spectacular region to visit. Shot on HD in 2007.

My wife and i stayed on the Obersalzburg last May and are returning to Berchtesgaten this June. We love the place.
