For those of us who grew up in this series of buildings in the '70s, we called it the "Satellite" There was always a Satellite & a slide around every corner of the back of these buildings.
Not the most fancy area I grew up in...but probably where most of my fond memories lie...

You seem to have a fond attachment to a building that is abandoned, no architectural beauty/significance and run past its use. Why? What is replacing it is supposed to be better and accessible to a variety of socioeconomic groups.

There are projects in the works to tear renovate and rebuild these old buildings and make them into affordable housing for low income families. There is a condominium complex being built on the empty lot, as well as, there are talks of building a brand new sports facility that would service the western borough. This is NDG... one of the best neighbourhoods in MTL bar none!

Benny Farm was a subsidized housing complex for WWI and WWII veterans after the war. It takes approx 2 city blocks right in the heart of NDG, and is considered prime real estate.
Most recently, due to old age, all of the veterans that once lived there have passed away leaving all these buildings empty.

What is the Benny Farm?
at the end of the video there is a sphere of metal rods and has a ring around it like a steel version of Saturn. Is that some sort of playground or sculpture?
