  • Wow. The late Mr. Klemperer was a fascinating individual. You talk about class acts; this guy wrote the book...

  • A true gentleman, what a rarity nowadays. He shows up in a jacket and tie, no course language, no rude suggestions, civil and decent. As long as there are people like that in the world there is hope. He's gone now, I don't see many others.

  • ..trying to think of an actor nowadays who carries himself with such class and humility...this today would stand out on a late nite talk show..

  • HOGAN! What's my Monocle doing on ebay! Humph!

  • @MrJest2

Two of the actors in Hogans Heroes were actually in Concentration Camps. Sgt Schultz (John Banner ) for a short time and Cpl LeBeau "Robert Clary" who spent a few years in one.

  • Schuuuullltz!!

  • Wow... stumbled across this. One thing I noticed reviewing another clip here on Youtube on "Hogans Heros"... all the actors were at least old enough to understand what was going on during WWII.. if not old enough to have actually participated in it. As others have mentioned, Klemperer's grace and poise was evident, but he back-story he alluded to is interesting. I'll miss his clean, snappy humor and wit... but time moves on.

And eventually consumes us all. Just think on that, too.

  • I wonder if Werner Klemperer ever toured Pennsylvania Dutch Country...

  • @batradiiton he was born in 1920 if that helps

  • Hi is dead!!

I loved his character. Simply a genius. We will miss him

  • Thanks for posting this; years ago (1980's ?) I heard a radio broadcast of one of the major American symphony orchestras performing Beethoven's "Egmont Overture", with Werner Klemperer providing narration... and I prize all my recordings conducted by his father, Otto Klemperer.

He seems such a sweet and charming man in this interview; thanks for allowing us to see beyond "Colonel Klink"...

  • What a gent thank you so much for posting

    Well Done
