It took god billions of years to finally get humans. We're on pace to be better than THAT guy.

Say someone actually made an A.I. that properly learned things. It would learn off other peoples actions, just like a baby. As it learned those things, it's understanding would grow. It would also have curiosity, preference and skepticism. It's knowledge would grow at an extreme rate, and eventually it would learn about emotions, and possibly try to recreate them.
Possibly it may learn enough about us and everything else and see us as a useless factor in the Earth.
Aaah, I dunno.

Interesting stuff. Look how far they have come in 20 years, imagine the progress which will be made over the next 300 years. Once robots can think on the level of complexity that humans do (well some humans anyway), we can teach it everything we know. Technology will progress at an exponential rate. Interstellar travel, advanced medicine, all just out of reach...

Slap a smile on anything, and half the people in the world would call it "consciousness", but if HE is judging his reaching distance, although it might not seem so, that is a very large advancement.
