http://www.FauquierENT.net - This video shows how esophageal manometry as well as 24 hour multi-channel pH and impedance testing is performed. This testing notably allows for evaluating both acid and non-acid reflux. For more information, please call 540-316-3700.

  • Ok.

  • Could not handle the 24 hour PH probe...gag reflux too strong. They used lidocane to numb me...didnt do shit.

  • if youve had a FEES test then youll get through this easy enough. probably easier as a FEES test includes moving the probe down to sensitive areas in the throat sometimes creating that gag reflex but with this test the probe goes right the way down so once swallowed its not so bad. the worst bit if it can be described as that is passing it through the nostril! its really not too bad. relaxing rather than flinching as they pass the probe really does help.

  • i just had this done...and I really thought it sucked to be honest. Not FUN!

  • I had this done today the manometry and now have the PH tube in for 24 hours, it is uncomfortable but not at all unbearable, I was given water to drink as they inserted the manometry which helps, the test took about an hour during which time I had to eat a meal and drink several glasses of water so they could take the readings, I was very worried about gagging like mad but I did not gag at all. if you are booked to have this done try not to worry too much its not as bad as it looks.

  • Can anyone tell me how this exam is done if you are very sore like me? My Surgeon said I have to go off of all my meds for 10 days, I will burn to a crisp, all the way up to my ears, how can I have this test done? My situation has affected my voice...I'm afraid going off my meds for the test will turn me into a complete mute. I'm also so afaid of the pain from acid rebound caused by going off the meds especially since my tissues are still so sore. Any thoughts anyone? Thanks!
