Fruit flies do not bite because, instead of teeth, they have proboscis injectors that help them eat over-ripe fruit more efficiently. Discover more about how a fruit fly eats with information from a high school biology teacher in this free video on insects.

You can make a "fruit fly trap" Take a shallow dish, put in wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar and cover it with cling film VERY tightly. Then punch the top full of holes with a toothpick, or bamboo skewer. The flies will be attracted to the sweet smelling vinegar (remember only use wine or apple cider) will make their way in through the holes, but can't get out. It's how I got rid of my little fruit fly attack from Mars... XD
