The 1996 Intercontinental basketball Cup was a basketball tie held over 1-2 best-of-three playoff format, in September 1996 between the winners of the 1995-96 FIBA European Championship, Panathinaikos B.C. and Olimpia de Venado Tuerto, winners of the 1996 Liga Sudamericana.
The first leg was held on 4 September 1996 at the Estadio Cubierto Newell's Old Boys, home of Olimpia de Venado Tuerto. Olimpia won 89-83.
The Olympic Indoor Hall hosted the next 2 games on 10 September 1996 and 12 September 1996. Panathinaikos won the second and third game and became the Intercontinental champion.
