@Rapthorne54 lol Hellsing is garbage totally lost in action and devoid of a plot.
-
@Rapthorne54 On the contrary, Devil May Cry was pretty much nothing but nonchalant killing, and it received terrible reviews from 90% of the people who watched it. I enjoyed it personally, but I sort of went into that one not expecting much. I had no idea Gungrave was a game when I watched it. Really, it all depends on what you're into. Even Cowboy Bebop wasn't ALL violence, and that's considered by a good deal of people to be one of the best shows created. It's all about what the viewer wants

@DemonusRequiem yeah i completly understand but anime these days its all about the excitment the only place they want to see friendship family and bonding is in a movie. but its funny how brandon seems to change his mind about the revenge thing in the climax. But they are the same thing just a different carry on how it plays through out the show they're both good show's i just prefer watching hellsing (actually reading since they're is only twelve episodes and more manga) then gungrave is all
-
@Rapthorne54 Well, that's just the difference in genres honestly. Gungrave was never really about just the killing, it's more about friendship and family, as lame as that sounds. It's protecting the people you care about. It's not even the revenge thing, in the end they didn't kill eachother, they died protecting eachother. Honestly though, comparing the two shows is meaningless, they aren't in the same genre. Hellsing fits more for people looking for the violent flair, Grave is more about depth

@DemonusRequiem sorry i meant to say you make a couple of good points about the characters. anyway i liked brandon because he sacrificed everything he had just to protect the people he loved, but the other thing i didn't like about brandon is that he had to die to grow some balls and do something he actually wanted to do and the other thing is like he didn't even want to kill harry much less take on the concept of the "you kill me i kill you back" concept of the whole revenge thing it was corney
-
@DemonusRequiem okay i make a couple of good points about the characters. But the best part about alucard is his madness he's the most powerful vampire in existance and loves to do what vampires do best; kill, and the best part about it is that the hellsing orginization always let's him do just that. the problem is that almost no one is strong enough to give him a good fight so he must restrain his power therefore he's always bored and never excited. Brandon never wanted to be a killer he's soft
-
@Rapthorne54 Sorry, ran out of characters. Anyway, he's the embodiment of madness more or less, but there's not much more to him, no real depth, no hidden drives, for him it's all about the destruction. The storyline for Hellsing was amazing (I'm still waiting for the next OVA to come out), and like I said, Gungrave could've been a lot better, but it was designed after a video game. That was it's biggest drawback, they had to incorperate the game, and in doing so, messed up a perfectly good show
-
@Rapthorne54 The storyline was pretty simple, yeah, but the characters all had different values. I dunno, I guess I simply studied the mentality of the characters more. Brandon himself didn't show much face value depth, but his actions, his behaviors show a deeper personality. On the other hand, if you take the character of Alucard, he's actually a very simple creature, ordered to certain locations to do the bidding of his master, albeit with sarcastic comments along the way. Write more 1 moment

@DemonusRequiem there wasn't much depth in their character in fact it was pretty simple the story line seemed to take alot of twists and turns and would've been better if they didn't add the zombies in there at first it seemed to be really long and interesting but became short and boring when he became "beyond the grave" but i daigres i liked hellsing more cause it didn't pull any punches on how violent the underground world of vampires and genetic mutants really is...plus i liked the characters
damn thats hot
