The trailer for the upcoming Miramax release, "The Queen," by Stephen Frears, which will open this year's New York Film Festival. Helen Mirren stars in the lead role and the film is described as "an intimate, frankly revealing and often acidly funny portrait of the British royal family during the dramatic days after the death of Princess Diana."

I believe the Queen's actions were justified and the only a statement was made was because her people forced her into it, Not because she wanted to.

The Queen absolutely did the right thing by staying at Balmoral for as long as she did.Out of the decades of duty to the Nation it should've been WE who ought to have understood her need to comfort her grandsons & we should've backed off & left her alone. But no,Britain became a baying mob, almost screaming for the Queen's blood yet applauding her when she eventually came to London. It was as if the public was saying,'See,we got our own way'.

Diana was the Princess of Wales, perhaps the most famous woman during 80's and 90's.

So you accept your first assertion was entirely false; now you reverse position entirely and tell us that the object of your ire, the Queen, should have acted unconstitutionally and rejected the "advice" she was given by elected politicians. She can't win can she? BTW, I really do think the UK should abandon this pretence regarding "advice" to the sovereign and be honest about that and other opaque matters of constitutional law regarding the Royal Prerogative, and its political abuse.

You are entirely incorrect: the Queen was "advised" (ie instructed) by the government of the day to exercise the Royal Prerogative and refuse her consent to the Bill. The Queen has never put a foot wrong in constitutional matters, and this is no exception. Even Tam Dalyell commented: "The issue as far as I am concerned is that Buckingham Palace was used by Downing Street," said Dalyell. "I don't blame the palace … this was entirely the handiwork of Downing Street".

This is drama based on speculation. Was that after this film that it became common knowledge those details?

What a stupid question. Are you actually trying to state that ONLY people who "know Her Majesty personally", know what's going on behind those gates?
