Annmarie found some pumpkins here and decided to make a raw food recipe for pumpkin bars that she got from our friend and raw food chef Frank Giglio's book.

The best news? (Besides the fact that they taste awesome) Is that they're sweetened with dried apricots!

  • Raw pumpkin tastes so bad to me. I made a raw pumpkin pie, and it was good other than the rotten cinnamon. But it just tastes soo... Pumpkin fresh

  • Make jack-o-lanterns and then soak, salt and dehydrate the seeds!

  • I am going to try this,but I hope I can get dried apricots.

  • I make Pumpkin smoothies with fresh pumpkins!

    1# of pureed pumpkin (I try and pull out any stings that are left over after I food process it)

    1/2 cup raw pumpkin seeds

    2 1/2-31/2 cups organic coconut milk

    4 pitted Dates

    1-3 tbsp raw honey

    1 tsp cinnamon

    teeeeny pinch of cloves.

    Makes 2-4 smoothies. Nummers!

  • I live in France so no Jack-o-lanterns tradition here.

    We have lots of basic recipes that include pumpkins, mostly soups, purées, cakes and flans.

  • We've managed to grow our first Pumpkins (we're in the UK). We have 3 so we will carve one and the other 2 will make pumpkin pie, of course and some pumpkin jam...sorry not a raw foodie just love your recipies.

  • None of you must have children because my kids wouldn't THINK of not getting to carve and decorate a pumpkin for Halloween!

  • i used to carve the pumpkin and let it rot on the doorstep for decoration basically, but now we eat them and not even carve anymore. We think its too shameful to let it go to waste when there are so many yummy things to do with it. =) If we absolutely have to dcorate a pumpkin, i get the son to paint on it with like acrylic paints and then we will scoop out the meat and eat it later.

  • probably nutmeg, cinnimon, ginger & allspice (traditonal pumkin pie spices), look up a pumpkin spice recipe but becareful how much you put in, to much cinnimon can be a bit over powering but I like to get heavy into the spices at holidays. :)
