I recently purchased a Hawkeye RC Aerial Photography plane from Joel Scholz of ElectricFlights.com. The four flights shown in this video are the first four flights that I ever took with the Hawkeye.

The Hawkeye is a wonderful flying machine. I cannot get over how slow and stable it flies, and how it basically lands itself. I was a little apprehensive knowing that it did not have elevator control, but within a few minutes I had the hang of adjusting the throttle to vary my altitude. I swear the Hawkeye is easier to fly than my Super Cub.

The only mishap of the outing was on my first flight. I apparently had the rudder servo reversed, which I didn't catch during the pre-flight check. It's really a testament to how great the Hawkeye is that I was still able to safely bring it down without incident.

  • Interesting ship. Looks like it has potential to be a good camera platform once you get used to it. Each flight in the video I could see you getting better and better at it. It's almost like one needs to re-learn how to fly when you don't have an elevator. In this case 'gunning it' when landing is a good thing to reduce ones decent rate and go easy on the landing gear.

Thanks for the vid. 3 stars
