The old 'Bing' is sited on the south side of the site which used to hold the Stewart & Lloyds steelworks in New Stevenston, Lanarkshire. S&L employed thousands of locals until its closure in the early 1980s.
The Bing is a hill of waste soil bulldozed and compacted from the earthworks when S&L was being built. Many local children played on the Bing but the eastern half of it is now being cleared by developers for use as a 'noise bund' on the western end of this site where 500 new houses are being built - it will be called Clydesdale Village. In future years, perhaps the occupants of that Village will look at this video and see something of the history.
