Genzyme, one of the world's leading biotechnology companies, is building an additional production unit in Geel, Flanders -- the northern region of Belgium. The investment, earmarked at EUR 250 million and encompassing a surface area of 22,000 m2, will create 150 new jobs. Flanders turned out to be the best of 40 locations worldwide in which to carry out the expansion project. Why? "Thanks to the presence of talent and expertise in the region", General Manager Piet Houwen summarizes. "Another crucial argument was our excellent collaboration with the authorities in Belgium."
