Captured IAIS #513 freshly painted in the new retro Rock Island scheme. As can be seen in the beginning of the video, it is a perfect replication of the early fifties paint scheme of the now gone Rock Island Railroad. The Iowa Interstate Railroad runs on some of the old Rock Island Railroad trackage to this day. This is a truly beautiful locomotive!

  • I actually live in Rock Island, and I see the 513 in the yard about once a month.

  • Iowa Interstate deserves a lot of credit for preserving the heritage of the Rock Island and, even more importantly, keeping the trains rolling on former RI rails

  • Here in tinley park illinois, we get daily IAIS freight trains...but 513 only comes twice a year.

  • @htc6600 csx uses it too

  • Interesting that they used the GE steerable truck. Everyone else except CP shuns it.

  • Nice video

  • @nikosjk1 yah i agree I like that K5HL but yes an Old cast P5 would sound better as true to the Rock Island I rember seeing the power blue ones with P5s but I was only about 4 years old dad took me down to Dallas to see them and the MKT yard there all now gone this horn does sound good on here though I feel UP should have used th correct horns for each of there Heratage units oh well I ws told it was because of money they used all th same horn

  • Would be nice someone could convince IAIS to let them replace the K5HL with a old cast P5 for the final Rock Island touch.

  • @gaycowboy31 if you like the katy railroad then vacation down at denison texas by lake texhoma they have a museum down there and they have old engines that are painted like you speak of. feel free to write me anytime i am retired from them also. take care and godbless.

  • @iusetano I agree with you Rock Island forever
