The Great Wall Marathon races require a walk-through of the Wall portion of the course 2 days prior to race day. This is so that everyone sees the dangerous sections and is prepared to run safely. All four events use this section of the Wall. The full Marathon does it twice, once in each direction. The half and full marathons have additional challenges, such as trail runs on stony dirt paths in farm fields in the valley. If you complete this race you will feel that you can accomplish anything! Half Marathon is the most popular distance. Search for this lat-long in Google maps for a satellite view, the course section is on the east side of the valley N40 14.689 E117 26.355
This is a very useful video- to emphasize the challenges and risks one would face running along the course. Definitely not a course for trying to set a personal record time!
