An exotic sp of mealybug bionomially called Phenacoccus solenopsis had been a potential threat to cotton cultivation in Haryana since 2006.But fortunately, an exotic wasp from the family of encyrtidae has arrived in Haryana to save the cotton crop from the mealybug menance.The farmers of distt Jind calls it ANGIRA and entomologists call it Aenasius. This parasitoid is capable of parasitizing about 80% of mealybug populations in this distt.
