This statement makes my case. If you watch the making of this film, you'll see that this film's budget was about what Carpenter paid for catering. So, comparatively, Halloween had a decent budget.
But I agree that this is a cult movie. I wouldn't compare it to Hollywood, but people that have worked with the producer have gone on to work on bigger things. Gotta start somewhere.

No, not in general I just say that that the effects in THIS movie seemed shitty as well as the acting. But what do I know, maybe thoose effects will give it cult status or be charmingly bad or something I don't know......

Good low-budget movie by Don Dohler and Joe Ripple. Solid story and a lot of action in it. Cool to see scream queens Syn DeVil and Leanna Chamish in it. Genre legend George Stover has one of the lead roles. Some of the acting is a little dicey and the effects are a mixed bag of good to not so good, but compared to a lot of low budget indie horror this is a diamond in the rough!

You're certainly entitled to your opinion. Not everyone shares it, of course. Certainly, there's room for improvement, but your comments are not very specific. If certain FX look bad, which ones? or are you just saying all of them? If the latter, that's way too generalized, and way off base. But, as I said, you're entitled to your opinion.
FWIW, I think Halloween was awesome and totally blows this movie away, but if we were to compare, Halloween sucks compared to The Godfather.
