Sheikh Zayed Mosque (Arabic: مسجد الشيخ زايد) in Abu Dhabi is the largest mosque in the United Arab Emirates and the eighth largest mosque in the world.[1][2][3] It is named after Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder and the first President of the United Arab Emirates, who is also buried there. The mosque was officially opened in the Islamic month of Ramadan in 2007.
The Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority announced that tours of the mosques will be given to both Muslims and non-Muslims beginning in mid-March 2008 in order to promote cultural and religious understanding.

  • masjid's doesnt need decorations like churches and temples !!! it is a distraction from prayers not attraction ...!!

  • Actually I am a financial services officer for the royal family. I can see from your comments and your attitude that you are an indecent person. Anyway, wish you all the best. By the way, the carpet is from Iran (Muslim workers). Zayed and sugarbabes? Excuse me? Don't be spreading rumors that you don't know anything about .. please :)

  • @DhabyaniVIP You constructing that Mosque, really!! I bet you were cheap labour from an impoverished country. I wouldn't be surprised if you were. Guess what, generous Sheikh Zayed gave more money to European workers than to Africans or Asians. Look at how much the German craftsmen were paid for chandeliers inside the Mosque. You should google that. Zayed was also more generous toward Sugarbabes than to the poors. Great pity about too many abandoned building projects in Gaza and West Bank.

  • @2urita First of all $5 Billion US??? My dear I was involved in the construction of this great mosque and it cost less than half that amount. Furthermore, speaking of giving charities to Africa or poor nations? I believe Abu Dhabi is the number one city in doing so! They give 100 times the amount used in constructing this mosque, but they do so quietly! Which is why you don't know about it probably! Sheikh Zayed (late president) built hundreds of houses alone for Palestinians! Do your research!

  • @2urita Look, what i mean corruption is, this happens alot to poor nation, they were given the money, yet the money were not given to their people, instead used it as bribery. Even the UN is now not funding them any money, instead give them food, shelter and cloths. Even this people from these poor nations still took advantage by, taking those stuff and sell it to people, so it's very hard to help those people who in the end, gonna make it wrost, it's better to let them do it themselve.

  • @ironicdevil666 You got that right. Islamic governments and rich citizens should take care of their own poors. Why should UN help when most privisions of aids will only get stolen to fund fat cat terrorists' lifestyles, terrorists who are mostly Muslims without scruples. Poor people starve and yet blindly follow their thieving fat cat clerics into their Mosques.

  • @ironicdevil666 Really!!! Why do most of Zakat money disappear to? Many Mosques run bogus charities and fat cat clerics steal money for themselves. Go to Gaza and West Bank and see how many building projects are abandoned, all these projects being funded by Zakat money from rich nations. Why is Zakat money still pouring in and not reaching toward these abandoned building projects? Is your Zakat money smoked off and drank down by bogus charities?

  • @2rita : you wana know why UN are reluctant to help africa? it's because everytime they lend a held, donations, food, cloths , shelter and facilities. its either gone to the wrong hand, mean it did not distributed to the poor people, a,k,a corruptions, terrorist activities, highly dangerous, and have sometimes, stuff that were given to them for free , are then sold to these poor people. so it's kinda making the situation worser. let their own government solve it and stop being so USA.

  • @2urita Let me have a say on this, before you say something, I believe in Abu Dhabi, the amount of poor people is very scarce, and with alot of rich people donating so much money and with little people to give zakat too, than it's very ideal for them to make a mosque rather then a shopping center or a mall.

Other nations? 1st. You do not know if they did donate to other nation or not, so you better stfu, what ur doing is fitna, 2nd. ever think of corruptions? give money, but use for other stuff?

  • Over FIVE BILLION DOLLARS of Zakat money were spent on this just ONE mosque, while poor nations are starving. What extravagance and a waste of good Zakat money!! That money could have used to alleviate world's poverty, famine, floods, draughts, diseases, etc.

Why can't there be simpler & more austere Mosques that don't take up too much money? What's left over could be used to serve humanity. But no it has to feed the greedy fat cat Imams' vanity and inflate their egos.
