On Wednesday July 15, the Delaware-Lackawanna Railroad ran the Portland Turn with their three matching RS3s. This is the only place on the planet you'll see such a sight in 2009.
We start with the train, plus 10 cars, climbing through Lehigh Summit, PA. Lehigh Summit crossing is a favorite among railfans, as it is on a banked DL&W curve. The next shot has the train in full dynamics, having crested the Poconos and begun the drift to the Delaware Water Gap. This shot was at Mount Pocono, PA.
In the next scene we double back to "Steamshovel Curve" near Tobyhanna, PA to catch a D-L grain train working her tail off towards the mill at Mount Pocono. Former Erie Lackawanna C425 2453 has charge of the train here.
Once the RS3s and PT98 have finished their interchange work at Slateford Jct., the train becomes PT97. The next scene shows her winding through the Delaware Water Gap at the famous postcard/promotional spot of the DL&W. The ALCO 244s sounded tremendous echoing off the valley walls.
Climbing through the Poconos once again, the 4103, 4118, and 4068 (all former Delaware & Hudson) dig in with their 30 car train at the former site of the Henryville, PA station. The second-to-last scene shows the RS3s once again on the downhill side of the mountain, cruising at track speed through Gouldsboro, PA, past the former DL&W station.
We close an eventful day at station sign Nay Aug, Myrtle Street, PA. The classic Lackawanna signal bridge (with a "G" grade signal) frames the three ladies and train through the curves preceding the Nay Aug Tunnel, another lasting achievement of DL&W engineering.
A tip-of-the-hat must be given to D-L CMO Don Colangelo, and engineers Kenny Lucas (grain) and Mike Vassallo (PT98/97).

My wife had to run and get the ammonia snappers so I'd come to after fainting.
