Wrongful Circumcision

Circumcision should not be permitted to be performed on unconsenting infants without their consent whether or not the parents approve! Any forced or unconsented surgery that is not medically necessary is a battery and this includes circumcision.

I hope the consequences are severe for both the hospital and the perpetrators. Nothing will mend this poor child's damaged body, but hopefully some good will come of it.

@dennypackard As with most religions, many Christians are traditionally so and do not live as Christians. Either that or, like many in a mutilating culture, they hide from the truth because the truth scares them. I am a Christian and I have studied circumcision in the Bible. Much of the time, the term is what the Jews used to describe themselves as a people rather than the mutilated penis. The NT calls physical circumcision mutilation and says that it should not be done: it is over

@finklesk It just goes to show where their real priorities are and how they have NFI about health and healing. Hospitals are dangerous places.
-
@dennypackard Religious people often have NFI about their own religion, to speak nothing of reality itself.

The hospital should be sued for attempted murder.

sue them moterfuckers
I wonder what will have to happen for this to no longer be practiced in the United States? Will a baby boy have to die of shock and tauma after having his foreskin removed?

@metalatheist Many baby boys (over 100) die every year in the US from circumcision related trauma. These are usually swept under the rug, attributed to other things (bleeding to death, shock, ruptured stomach, etc.) Everyone involved, parents and doctors are very motivated cover their tracks because this is an unnecessary surgery which is frivolous and unethical to subject a newborn to.

It's really surprising that a Baptist hospital fails to adhere to Biblical principles!
Christians, whether Protestants, Catholics, Evangelicals, or Orthodox, in other developed countries do NOT circumcise, in accordance with Paul's strong CONDEMNATION of circumcision for believers in Acts 15 & Gal. 5.
The Baptist churches that I've attended over the years (esp. in Asbury Park, NJ, Newark, DE & France) always put so much emphasis on the Bible.
I'm disappointed that South Miami Hospital doesn't.

@dennypackard Surprising? Hardly. All over the world people have half-baked ideas about the religions that were imposed upon them in childhood. I cannot count how many times I've heard people say, "Of course I'm circumcised, I'm Catholic." Or "I'm circumcised because I'm Christian and its in the bible."
