Richard M. Stallman is the founder of the GNU Project, launched in 1984 to develop
the free software operating system GNU. The name ``GNU'' is a recursive acronym
for ``GNU's Not Unix''. GNU is free software: everyone is free to copy it and
redistribute it, as well as to make changes either large or small. Non-free software
keeps users divided and helpless, forbidden to share it and unable to change it.
A free operating system is essential for people to be able to use computers in
freedom. Today, Linux-based variants of the GNU system, based on the kernel Linux
developed by Linus Torvalds, are in widespread use. There are estimated to be
some 20 million users of GNU/Linux systems today.

  • RMS - Is a fucking awesome bloke... we should appreciate non-selfish, and the true contributors to society such as RMS and Linus way more then those selfish butt sucking farts called celebrities... Why the fuck are bitches like Paris Hilton more famous then the givers of the world? This world is seriously messed up.

  • DEVELOPERS NEED TO EAT TOO!!

  • this is what philosophy is searching the change of reality

  • Technically most weapon systems operate with software so in a sence they do and i kinda like the "pirate" terminolgy makes me feel rebelious when i share my movies with my roommates.for watching it on the same tv pure technically i'm sharing so i could be sued. i think. if you buy a movie on dvd or blueray and you watch it with your wife and kids technically you are sharing thus a pirate "ar argh" and also a criminal. lol

  • and that's important to this topic how?

  • wtf dude, have some self respect and cut and shave.

  • @videochemist you are comparing a negative with positive....even me > jobs, it means nothing

  • attacking ships with software - cracked me up. More people should take a stand against the misuse of some terminologies and even slang words like he is. Besides the ones who do not wish to be persecuted for sharing their stuff.

    thank you Stallman
