Dr. Gougaloof....sorry I mispelled your name, but I thought it would be appropriate since you mispelled symphysis. Try using a bone saw, you may actually be able to harvest a usable graft.

We all have bad days :)...no need to insult everyone, however on a more technical note, bone saws are so out of date...check out piezo surgery or maybe even ErYAG surgery (that's a laser !!)

Out of date? Yeah ok. While I'm on my third graft harvest, you can be dinking around with your 10k Piezo or ErYAG. I'm sure you already know this....new is usually not better.

and where in the world can one find/get this INFUSE rhBMP2?

there's probably more than one synthetic bone growth stimulator on the market, but not all dentists offer it, especially perio and os. culd it be because surgery is invasive, costly, hmmm money is their only incentive. maybe this synthetic stuff is cheaper?

You're a moron. Try doing some research before you post stupid shit. rhBMP2 is not cleared by the FDA for localized ridge augmentation in the mouth, which is why this graft is being taken. The "synthetic stuff" doesn't work nearly as well as autogenous bone. RhBMP-2 costs $3-4000 per kit, which would be an added expense in this case for the patient.

My point is you're an idiot. Why wouldn't perio and os not offer a "synthetic" bone growth stimulator if it's in the best interest of a patient. Oh, yeah. It's because money is their only incentive....how original. Shit for brains. I bet you're a general dentist.

first off they don't? There are morbidity issues associated with harvesting autograph? The doc's rarely tell the patient this; they just tell them it's required for the best outcome. BS, because now there is a product called INFUSE rhBMP2 that grows the patients won de novo bone? Their native bone.

Yes there are morbidity issues with this procedure, which is why untrained dumb asses like yourself shouldn't be doing it.
