The French Naval Commandos was formed during World War II in Great Britain, modeled along with the Commandos of the Royal Navy (who were founded in 1940). Its manpower came from the Fusiliers Marins.
It took part in the Normandy Landing on D-day under command of Commandant Kieffer.

@TheHabati they werent suppose to be carrying any form of documents which would identify them as special forces in case they were captured, they ate class notes :)

the guy had taken very basic notes. The instructor made him eat them, because they are supposed to be hiding their identity and the fact that they belong to a special unit.

there is still exchanges with the royal marine commandos in great britain and british army commandos who come over to do this course from time to time
