One of the things that defines me the most is my patriotism. I think America is the best country in the world and I'd do anything to protect her. My love for my country is what drove me into politics. It is what motivates me every day. Nothing could show who I am more than that.

I don't know anyone who died in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. What makes my grief so great is simply my love for America. I hope that shines through through this video. God bless America!

  • My ex-wife and I ate dinner at the "Windows on the World" restaurant on top of WTC I - on Monday, September 10, 2001!!!!!!

Sometimes life is all in the timing!!!!!

I still have that receipt framed and hanging on my wall!! You never know when your time is up!!!!!!!!

  • @Earthlinked

    Wow. So true!

  • The pledge of allegience is a loyalty oath. It used to be said with an outstretched hand like for Heil Hitler. Jefferson said "The tree of liberty is nourished by the blood of revolutionaries. No citizen of a democratic country should ever pledge unswerving loyalty to any government or flag." Patriotism is simply unthinking, blind obediance.

  • Thanks for that, but that's not what this video is about.

You made a leap from the Pledge to patriotism as a whole. What's wrong with being proud of your country? Patriotism also includes being critical of the government in order to protect the core values of the country. I don't see how that connects with what you said.

  • This was really beautiful, great job. I do often wonder if we haven't forgotten the lessons of 9/11 myself. The unity at that time was incredible. So sad that it took a tragedy of unprecedented proportions to bring us to that place. I love our country and I pray that we, once again, will become united.

  • I will pray for you. Patriotism isn't a blind act of obedience, but a thoughtful act of responsibility & love for one's country. I love America, have always been willing to serve her, and praise our Lord that I was born here. It's the statement at the end that exemplifies so many people like you. Get off of your psuedo-intellectual high horse & try living in a country which isn't democratic.

BTW, I like much of what Jefferson said, but don't forget the duplicity in his personal life, too.

I make decisions based on what it leads to. I will speak against all terrorist. I do not think we need to kill one another. I think we need to separate based on who we are. If you like who I am.
