Beautiful, this is my favorite version although I also adore the chieftains and Sinead's version. I'm just a sucker for Kate :).

I love the haunting melody of this song and would love to sing it. Would anybody be able to give me a phonetic version? Although I was born in Wales, I am Irish on my mum's side. My grandparents were from Ballinasloe, County Galway. I now live in Australia. Although I am a classically trained singer, I also perform with voice and harp and voice at folk and Celtic festivals around Australia. I can sing in Welsh (with my dad's help in pronunciation), but would also love to sing in Irish Gaelic.

I have just found out that Kate sang this song on an album by the Irish musician Donal Lunny, who played bouzouki on Kate's Night of the Swallow.
It's beautifu, isn't it...

Amazing! I love this track! What does the title of the song mean?

@Vindrag It means "The Women Of Ireland"

Though a K. Bush fan, I'd never heard this version of her's. In which album may I find it?

@jrsviewtube It's not on any of Kates albums, sadly. She recorded her version of this song in 1996, for the compilation CD 'Common Ground: The Voices Of Modern Irish Music'.
