@Snypro I think Newton's main influence was Eric Roche, may be wrong but pretty sure.
Also he did write the song "So Much" about Eric after he died.

What Preston Reed did for the acoustic guitar is about as huge as what Hendrix did for the electric.
Newton needs to thank his lucky stars he can play the way he does. That star being Preston Reed - who DOESN'T ruin his own songs with commercial sounding vocals.
