I dont think people realize that just because you're fat it means you're not as committed. Being fat in this sport entails having more volume and mass overall, which gives you more leverage whenever you perform any of the events. You're not aiming to look good like body builders, you're aiming to be the strongest.

@Travisk100 How does being fat show that you are not fully committed to the sport? If a sport demands low levels of fat then that's what the athletes have. There have been great athletes that have also been slight heavy in ALL sports. The strongmen of 30 years ago are considered to be the strongest ever, I dunno how long people like Poundstone and Pudzianowski will be remembered...

@Taladrane God i hope so, i think that if you're competing in any sport you should be in the best physical condition you can be in, being fat just shows that you are not fully committed to the sport to give it your best. because it is obviously possible. same with any sport.

@Taladrane When you look better, you feel better, you perform better, Thats the truth brotha

how do u get that strong

I was wondering "when does the rope end?"
-
@Taladrane i think so....with the training that they're doing now and with how advanvced everything is getting...being a big fat strongman is soon going to mean no chance at even top 5

AWESOME PULL!
So Pudzianowski was huge with low bodyfat and won 5 WSM's. Now Derek is set to be the next best thing, who is even bigger than Mariusz and also has low bodyfat. Are we seeing an end to the big fat strongmen of the past?
